Two storey houses

Some houses are only one storey. All the rooms in the house are on one level. They don't have a staircase inside the house.

Other houses are two storeys. This means that they have an upstairs and a downstairs. Two storey houses have staircases so that people can go up to the rooms in the top storey.

Sometimes they have steps that go up to the top storey on the outside of the house, as well as the inside.
