In early New Zealand, some people
built sod houses. They dug up clumps of dirt and grass, and built
them into houses to live in. They were very warm, but not easy to
clean!
Sod houses did not have a lot of
windows.
The Maori and other early
settlers built houses from raupo or nikau. This is an early settler
inside a raupo whare.
