Bob Jones: Hello! Today we have a very special guest. We have with us today the 1/2 inch long, red with black spots, Larry the Ladybug! Tell us Larry, how is your life? 

Larry: Hi! Iím Larry the Ladybug also known as Coccinelle or Lady Beetle.Life is pretty good. I must say we are a very treasured insects. Farmers raise us to eat their aphids, scale bugs, and flea lice. Mmmmm!  

Bob Jones: That is very interesting. Larry, just because you are called a ladybug does it mean you are a female insect? 

Larry: Absolutely not! I dislike it very much when little girls and boys catch me and my family and name us Betsy or Lulu. 

Bob Jones: Well, Iíll have to tell my kids not to make that mistake. Well, enough of that, letís talk about your childhood. Were you cute when you were young? 

Larry: Well actually I was a little worm like creature. My 1000 sisters and brothers and I were blue with stripes of orange or black. After 1 or 3 months I became a little pupa. Then after a while I turned into the original Ladybug beetle. 

Bob Jones: Wow! Larry do you have any children yourself? 

Larry: Well, actually Iím not of age yet. Probably in a few weeks Iíll be ready to mate. 

Bob Jones: Larry, where do you live, and what  is your little niche in life? 

Larry: Well, most of the time I can be found in warm areas in the world. Now, my little niche is probably helping farmers grow their crops. Like Iíve already said, I eat yummy, juicy, plump aphids and other plant pests. 

Bob Jones: I donít mean to be rude, but you are so small, how do you keep yourself safe? 

Larry: Well Iím so cute and cool that I donít really need to worry about humans. But other animals would probably eat me if I werenít poisonous. Iím not as poisonous as a Poison Dart Frog, but I can make a small rodent sick. I also have wings so I  can fly away. 

Bob  Jones: Larry your life sounds terrific, but donít you ever get lonely eating and sleeping all your life? 

Larry: Boy, am I glad you asked. Iím never alone. I have other Ladybugs that work with me. Can you imagine millions of little meís working harder than any bug? 

Bob Jones: No, I canít imagine lots of little youís working so hard. Well, thank you for coming in today.
